What a Church Website in Kenya Needs: M-Pesa Giving, Sermons and Events

A good church website does three jobs: helps visitors find a service, lets members give by M-Pesa with the right account reference, and keeps sermons and announcements in one place. Here's the checklist.

Most church websites in Kenya are either missing or out of date. Meanwhile, newcomers search 'churches near me' on a Saturday night and pick whichever one shows service times and directions. A simple, maintained site changes that.

The must-haves

  • Service times for every service and language, plus a map pin
  • Giving by M-Pesa with clear paybill account references (tithe, offering, building fund), so the treasurer can reconcile
  • Sermons: audio or YouTube links organised by series and date
  • Events and announcements the church office can update without calling a developer
  • Ministries and groups (youth, women, men, children) with a contact for each
  • A short 'What to expect' page for first-time visitors

Giving that's easy to account for

A paybill with separate account references for each fund removes most of the treasurer's Monday-morning work. With an integration, every contribution can be logged automatically and members can get receipts. That builds trust and makes the annual report simple.

Keep it alive

An outdated site is worse than none: last year's Easter programme tells visitors nobody is home. Give one person in the church office a simple login and a weekly 15-minute routine to update it.
